Ettore Cauvin is a new-generation artist, researcher and music educator based in the Netherlands. In September 2024, he won the Italian national selection as PhD Candidate in Performing, Staging Arts and Music Creativity for the Italian Ministry of University and Research. He is a former team member of AEC Goes Green - ARTEMIS (2022-2025 EU Funded).
Clarinettist constantly elevating his craft, he developed consistent artistic mastery performing internationally (IT, DE, CH, ES, NL, DK, FR, UK), collaborating with directors of the calibre of Maestri G.Noseda, A.Márquez, D.Paredes and S.Tepeen.
Awarded as Best Graduate Musician of Dutch Conservatoires by Dutch National Broadcaster NTR, he performed classical works by J.Brahms at the New Year Concert 2023 on NPO Klassiek. His latest investigations focus on intercultural identity, music stratification and interdisciplinary experimentation as well as ecomusical practices, green music and sustainability.
In Italy, he received classical training at conservatoires and private academies as in Rome with his mentor Maestro C.Palermo, Principal Clarinet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Part of Cauvin’s sparkling young career is the collaboration with NTR, RAI Radio 3, MITO SettembreMusica, Accademia Ruggero Maghini, Viotti Festival and Ticino Musica International Classic.
In June 2020, he obtained his Bachelor of Music Degree in Clarinet Performance with full marks at the State Music Conservatoire "Giuseppe Verdi" of Turin (IT).
Right after his graduation, he took a one-way ticket to Rotterdam making Holland his new beloved home. In the Netherlands, he participated in the vibrant musical scene partaking in events such as the O’Festival, De Doelen and NPO Klassiek concert seasons, keeping contact with the best Dutch professionals.
In August 2022, he obtained his Master of Music Degree in Classical Clarinet Performance at Codarts University of the Arts with a final grade of 9/10, under the guidance of French Maestri J.Hervé and B.Bonansea, Principal Clarinettists of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. At Codarts, he followed a major in Artistic Research and a minor in Music Education.
Over the years, he collaborated with worldwide renowned artists such as M.Fröst, N.Baldeyrou, Y.Gilad, C.Palermo, A.Carbonare, O.Patey, G.Punzi, F.Meloni and many more.
In November 2022, he published his artistic research “Unveiling the folk dance identity of Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto Opus 57: A Fynske modernist storytelling” in partnership with the Carl Nielsen International Competition, the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium - SDKM, Carl Nielsen Museet in Odense and the Danish Royal Library in Copenhagen.
In April 2023, he was appointed music teacher (Clarinet, Piano) at SKVR - Rotterdam Arts Education Foundation. Following AEC’s invitation, he presented his research testimony at the RAPP Lab multiplier event: “Reflect & React. How Artistic Research Empowers Musicians and Performing Artists at Higher Education Institutions” at HfMT Köln (DE) later in May. In the same month, he was selected as Team Member of AEC Goes Green Working Group - ARTEMIS Empowering Artists as Makers in Society (2022-2025). In September 2023, he was appointed clarinet teacher at Cultuurhuis Garenspinnerij Gouda.
In June 2023, he was invited by Radio Canale Italia for an interview on Italian musical excellence in Milan (IT). In addition to partaking in conferences, he is a regular guest researcher at Carl Nielsen Museet and SDMK (DK).
With Viola Innocenti, he is the Founder of VOX TERRAE.
He plays on Henri Selmer Paris clarinets.
